Gosfield School is proud to announce the outstanding success of its recent production of Matilda Jr., which thrilled audiences across four completely sold-out public performances, each one receiving a full standing ovation.
Performed by an exceptionally talented cast of students aged 7 to 18, this ambitious production showcased the very best of Gosfield School’s thriving Performing Arts Department. Students from across the school community came together—actors, singers, dancers and backstage crew—to bring the much‑loved Roald Dahl story to life with energy, humour and heart.
The young performers delivered professional‑standard storytelling, from powerful ensemble numbers to heartfelt solo moments, captivating audiences of all ages. The production featured vibrant choreography, strong vocal performances, imaginative staging, and a dynamic technical team of students managing lighting, costume, and props.
Head of Performing Arts, Miss Duffy, praised the cast and crew:
“Our students worked with such passion, discipline, and creativity. To receive four standing ovations is an incredible achievement, and every student involved should be immensely proud.”
Parents, staff and members of the local community were unanimous in their praise, with many describing the show as “a joy from start to finish,” “incredible,” and “the best school production they’ve ever seen.”
The success of Matilda Jr. continues Gosfield School’s ‘Arts for All’ ethos of delivering high-quality performing arts experiences that develop confidence, teamwork, and artistic excellence across all age groups.
