Following the success of Gosfield School’s Year 7 World Scholars in Latvia earlier this year, students from Years 8, 9 and 10 have continued the school’s impressive run of form at the Surrey Round of the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup.
Competing against strong opposition, Gosfield’s scholars rose to the challenge across a series of demanding events, including a 120 question general knowledge quiz, three rigorous 45 minute debates, and the fast paced Scholar’s Bowl. Throughout the competition, students demonstrated exceptional knowledge, teamwork and resilience, representing the school with pride and professionalism.
Their outstanding efforts were rewarded with an impressive medal haul of 25 silver medals and 16 gold medals. This achievement translates to an average of 3.7 medals per scholar, a significant increase from last year’s average of 1.9, highlighting the continued dedication and progress of Gosfield’s World Scholar’s Cup participants.
Several students deserve special recognition. Aryan, George, Lylah, Rosie and Tia made an excellent impression in their first appearance in the Senior Division, confidently competing against Sixth Form students. Meanwhile, Zack and Lylah achieved exceptional individual success, both placing within the top ten scholars in the Junior and Senior divisions respectively.
The school is immensely proud of all its World Scholars for their commitment, enthusiasm and success. Congratulations to every participant, and best of luck to those who have qualified for the upcoming Global Rounds.
