Students from Gosfield School have returned triumphant from the Regional Round of the World Scholars Cup Regional Round, held in Riga, Latvia, celebrating an extraordinary medal haul and multiple individual honours.
Gosfield entered its largest delegation to date, with 17 scholars forming seven teams — the majority of whom were competing at this level for the very first time. Despite being newcomers to the competition, the students delivered an exceptional performance, earning a remarkable 6 trophies, 32 gold medals, and 50 silver medals over the course of the weekend.
A special congratulations goes to Kofi A, who ranked at the top the Junior Division — an outstanding personal accomplishment in a highly competitive field. Gosfield’s Year 8 team also secured notable wins, further contributing to the school’s impressive overall tally.
Across all events, the seven teams amassed a total of 82 medals. With an average of 4.8 medals per scholar, Gosfield’s performance significantly surpassed previous benchmarks from other regional competitions, including Surrey last year (1.9 medals per scholar) and Dubai over the Christmas break (2.2 medals per scholar).
The success in Riga also brings exciting news — Gosfield has officially qualified for the next Global Round in Prague later this year. We wish them the very best of luck in the next round of this competition.
Congratulations to all students involved for representing Gosfield with such distinction and determination. The future looks exceptionally bright for these talented scholars.
