Over the October half term, Gosfield Netball Academy embarked on its inaugural international tour, marking a significant milestone for the programme. Students and staff enjoyed a memorable week on the island of Malta, combining high-quality sporting experiences with cultural exploration. Led by Head of the Netball Academy, George Fisher, and supported by Mr Simpson and Miss Brown, the team embraced a packed schedule of training, fixtures and activities.
Across the week, the squad participated in a series of friendly yet competitive matches against local Maltese teams. These fixtures provided an invaluable opportunity for players to challenge themselves in a new environment, develop their teamwork and adaptability, and connect with international peers who share their passion for the sport.
Beyond the court, students explored Malta’s rich heritage and striking landscapes. Their itinerary included visits to historical landmarks, scenic coastal locations and team-building activities, all balanced with time to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine. This blend of sport, culture and recreation created a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
The tour proved an outstanding success, strengthening the players’ skills, confidence and camaraderie, while setting a strong precedent for future international opportunities at Gosfield.
A fantastic first overseas adventure for Gosfield Netball Academy, and the beginning of many more to come.
