Congratulations go to Henry T in year 11 who has been successful in his pursuit of an Arkwright Scholarship. The award is a national scholarship awarded to students with a particular interest in engineering as a career and it follows a gruelling process of examination and interview. Henry successfully navigated the examination which required candidates to address a design based problem and he was then notified of a date for a follow up interview. He clearly impressed the interviewers with his knowledge of Design Technology, Maths and Science and subsequently learned of his success in late June. Henry will now be invited to the awards ceremony that takes place in London at the home of the Institute of Electrical Engineers in the very beautiful Faraday Hall. Arkwright Scholars are allocated an industrial sponsor which can provide opportunities for advice and work experience as well as annual funding for each of Heny’s sixth form years that can be used toward engineering type project work. It’s an excellent step in the direction of securing a place on a top engineering course at university and becoming a qualified engineer. We wish Henry the very best for his future studies and his goal of becoming a first rate engineer.
