Developing People through the Ethos and Values of Cricket
The Gosfield School Cricket Academy is firmly embedded within our through school curriculum from Prep, to Senior and into the Sixth Form. Utilising the outstanding facilities of our 110 acre estate which includes our new cricket pavilion, cricket ground plus indoor nets in our sports hall, our cricket for all programme enables our young boys and girls, to engage with the skills, values and ethos of cricket from the age of four.
The three tier programme is structured to enable participation at all levels of ability – from growing as beginners, to improving as achievers and to inspiring all at the elite performance level. Our next cricket scholarship day will be a virtual one due to current restrictions and it will be held on Friday 26th February 2021.

An all-round education
Our Cricket Academy forms a part of an exceptional all round education provided at Gosfield School.
Small classes and personalised pathways give every young person at Gosfield School the opportunity to be the best they can. The Senior School and Sixth Form inhabit an elegant Georgian manor, while the Prep School and Nursery benefit from purpose-built contemporary architecture. Both embrace a wide range of academic subjects delivered through personalised pathways to class groups exclusively capped at no more than 20. We expect every individual to reach and grow beyond their academic predictions from the point they join us.
Academic rigour is accompanied by an equally strong focus on personal characteristics. Pupils benefit from our own Forest School, deep commitment to Duke of Edinburgh awards, extraordinary expeditions and the value of public speaking and debating. Each develops self-confidence, resilience and problem solving skills that will be essential in tomorrow’s workplace. We expect every individual to become engaging, innovative and collaborative contributors to the future.
Comprising around 250 pupils aged between two and 18 years, our school really is like an extended family. Most pupils and staff know everyone’s name. Pupils, teachers and support staff share lunch in the same dining hall. Friendships transcend all ages and families become lifelong friends too. We expect every individual to recognise the important role of trust, respect and kindness within happy and fulfilling lives.
With a comprehensive mini bus provision serving towns and villages across the region, Gosfield School provides a unique opportunity for pupils of all academic abilities to enjoy the freedoms, experiences and rewards provided by an Independent education.
The Cricket Academy programme
The academy is managed our Head of Cricket, Mr Ben Stephens, who also heads up PiriPiri cricket and manages England Captain Joe Roots’ cricket academy – and he is most ably assisted by our PE Department coaches. Whilst focussed on cricket, our programme teaches skills that are transferrable to a range of sports with an emphasis on the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being and social development whilst instilling the values traditional values and sportsmanship that underpin cricket and set it apart from any other sport.
Perfectly aligned with our School’s ethos, our three cricket programme tiers ensure that everyone participates and benefits. From that foundation, the more able are coached to extend their range of skills and the most able mentored through their elite development, mind-set and performance.
