Performing Arts

Performing Arts is an integral part of our curriculum, spanning from Nursery to Sixth Form. Utilising the outstanding facilities of our 110-acre estate and state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre, which opened in 2022 and includes a dance studio, music room, practice rooms, and a 185-seat theatre, our Performing Arts For All programme enables our pupils to cultivate and develop their talents in drama, music, and dance from the ages of two to eighteen.

Students from Reception to Year 6 receive Performing Arts education from specialist teachers in dedicated spaces twice per week, with Nursery benefiting from lessons once per week. In Year 7 & 8, this increases to three times per week, with discrete lessons for Dance, Drama, and Music. In addition, our extensive Co-Curricular programme offers activities throughout the year in dance, drama, orchestra, band-practice, singing, filmmaking, stage lighting and musical theatre, ensuring ‘arts for all’ lies at the centre of our provision, with something for everyone, from beginners to scholars, performers and non-performers.

Performing Arts Academy

Our Performing Arts Academy is housed in the fabulous J W Turner Performing Arts Centre, officially opened by West End and Broadway star Denise van Outen in May 2023. The academy is led by our Head of Performing Arts, Miss Duffy. For music and dance, teachers lead individual lessons for all levels of ability, from beginners to advanced. While focused on performing arts, our programmes teach skills that will enable our pupils to access extensive opportunities now and in later life, perfectly aligning with our school’s ethos.

Matilda Auditions: September 2025

We will be holding auditions for Matilda Jnr in the first three weeks of term, during After-School activities. Auditions (and rehearsals) will be on Mondays and Thursdays after school.

Those wanting to audition for any lead roles, or smaller supporting speaking/singing roles MUST audition. Those wanting to be in the Ensemble without any solo speaking/singing roles do not need to prepare anything for auditions.

The roles of Matilda, Bruce, Lavender and some of the smaller supporting roles such as Alice, Hortensia and Tommy will be open to students in Year 5 and above.
