boarding school for ages 4-18
Every day at Gosfield provides boarders with stimulating and challenging experiences. They may choose to play and practise music, research in the Library or on the Internet using the latest multi-media facilities within the school ICT suite, play sport, do some gardening or just relax in the common room or outside in the school grounds. These are just a few of the activities that represent the diversity and richness of boarding at Gosfield and it is this when coupled with the high academic expectations and standards of the school that attracts young people from all over the world. They will join a community that celebrates traditional values while embracing tolerance and understanding.
Young people today face increasing amounts of pressure to compete for top universities and rewarding careers. Academic qualifications alone are not sufficient to guarantee success in the wider world. Maturity, confidence, versatility, self-motivation and self-discipline are all qualities needed to achieve their potential and boarding at Gosfield can provide a unique environment to develop these qualities. If you walk around the school you will meet confident boarders going about their business, studying hard, expressing their opinion and taking a positive, active part in all school life.
Junior boarders flourish in the homely atmosphere of the Boarding House and receive much of their role modelling from the older students, while still receiving the individual attention they need from the House staff. All of the young people who board mature rapidly in such a unique atmosphere, form close and lasting friendships and show the ability to take on growing responsibilities both within the Boarding House and in the wider school community, enhancing and discovering new talents at the same time.
Life in Gosfield Boarding House is unique in character. A caring and secure environment is maintained by all staff involved in the boarders’ welfare, whether it is the House Parent or the catering staff; all are encouraged to give guidance and support. The Boarding House also offers modern amenities, a kitchen/diner for snacks, a relaxing common room with flat screen digital TV and Blue Ray DVD, supervised use of the school’s extensive grounds, all-weather sports’ area and Sports’ Hall and well-appointed bedrooms. All sixth form have the choice of either double or single rooms, whilst younger boarders share larger rooms
The health, safety, and welfare of all boarders are an absolute priority. The school has its own nurse and links with local medical community. The School Nurse oversees medical care in conjunction with the House Parents. Boarders are provided with a suggested list of outside contacts that they may turn to if they feel they need to with posters from ‘Childline’ in every room and the use of a private room for calls if needed.
