In such an unusual year we are delighted that Gosfield School’s GCSE students were once again rewarded for their dedication and hard work with fantastic results. 96% of all grades were in the coveted 9-4 grade range, and there were some wonderful individual stories of success, including Harry and Gabriela who gained grades 9-7 in all of their GCSEs, the equivalent of all GCSEs being the old A* and A grades.

Harry, Liam, Emily, Isabel and Gabriela were delighted with their top Grade 9s in English, Spanish, Geography and Business Studies. Liam wanted to thank his teachers saying, “I’m very happy. I think the teachers are great here”, as did Lucy, who said, “I’m really happy, this was more than I wanted, I’ve had very good times here, the teachers are very nice and I made lots of friends”, with Isabel adding, “this is so great, I’m so happy, I never expected I’d get them. All the teachers are so great, so supportive and I’ve made friends for life”.

Principal Guy Martyn praised the courage and fortitude of all involved in creating today’s success in such unusual times: “With so much turmoil and uncertainty surrounding how GCSE grades were going to be awarded it was finally time to focus on the young people who matter most, and what these crucial grades mean to them. It was fantastic to see so many of our GCSE students return after months away from the School and celebrate their successes with them. We are so proud that despite not having the chance to show what they could do in the exams, our students have been rewarded for all their hard work and desire to improve and achieve beyond expectation.

That has been true for so many today –  who have been awarded with GCSE grades which are a result of a meticulous internal moderation process to ensure that these grades were fair and the most likely ones students were going to achieve – and are a tribute to their dedication to meet and beat their own personal best, whatever that might be, at whatever grade level in our non-selective school. We’re proud of them all, we’re proud of our exceptional teachers, and delighted that yet again the benefits of personalised tuition in small classes with teachers who really know their students has paid off in spades for all these delighted young people and their parents.”
