Grow, Achieve, Inspire
Our Sixth Form is a special place to study during the last two years of school education. With an exclusive limit of 40 students admitted into our Sixth Form, it is small enough to ensure that every student receives the academic and pastoral guidance required to achieve their goals. Over the summer of 2018 the Sixth Form centre has been relocated in a larger areas of our Georgian Main Building, ready to accommodate increasing interest from students within the Chelmsford, Colchester and South Cambridge region seeking the opportunity to work hard on their A Levels within a tranquil, beautiful and friendly setting.
We strive to help our students achieve their desired academic qualifications along with the necessary life skills to make a real difference in the outside world. Our students consistently achieve their target grades for the universities and degree courses of their choice and leave us as rounded young adults.
A Level Results For 2019
Our Year 13 students have yet again achieved the A Level results they needed to meet their university and career aspirations. This year our results were headlined by 72 per cent A*, A or B grades.
As young adults, we know that our students are keen to have a Sixth Form experience that extends beyond academia. We have a very active social and extra-curricular calendar and every Sixth Form student is a school ambassador, leading the school as Senior Prefects or House Captains and acting as a role model for the younger students. Sixth Form students are given the freedom to plan their study, work independently, manage their time and stretch themselves academically. And our teaching staff are there to support them every step of the way towards their Higher Education goals.
We would be delighted to show you what it is that makes our Sixth Form at Gosfield School such a special place.
A very warm welcome awaits you.

Choosing Gosfield for Sixth Form
Our Sixth Form students are young adults and we treat them as such – starting with an expectation that they will attend wearing smart business attire. Our Sixth Form Centre offers them their own, well-resourced study area, relaxing common room and their own kitchen area. Study periods are supervised to ensure that our students maximise their study time but they are free to use the common room and cafeteria for their relaxation and down time.
Excellent Range Of A Level Subjects
We offer more than 17 subject choices at A Level. We assess our Sixth Form students to ensure that their subject choices are the most appropriate for them. The 17 core A-Level subjects offered at Gosfield School develop annually to suit demand and additional subject choices can be provided by the School.
Outstanding Academic Results
Our students achieve outstanding A -Level results year on year. This year every single student achieved a place at a university of their choice, or have secured positions opening up potentially rewarding careers.
Small Class Sizes
Our small class sizes create the perfect learning environment for our students. The intimate groups enable full participation, giving students the confidence to express their views openly and to argue a case effectively. This is excellent preparation for university lectures and seminars, when active participation is essential. Our students are able to focus on their lessons without the distractions which can often occur in large classes at other institutions.
Students enjoy a dedicated Sixth Form Centre with quiet study rooms, a spacious lounge and a kitchen area.
The personal and social welfare of each of our students is of paramount importance at Gosfield and our attention to pastoral care extends throughout Sixth Form life.
We are always keen to attract pupils who are highly self-disciplined, have a positive attitude to learning and enjoy the opportunity to work hard. For pupils who can demonstrate that they are performing well above expected levels of achievement, we are extremely pleased to be offering Scholarship and Honorary Scholarship Awards for 2019 admission to our Senior School.
