Twickenham Visit – England Rugby
Before the start of the term, a select number of representative pupils from some of Grays International (Gilbert) flagship Schools including Gosfield School took part in a unique event at Twickenham Stadium.
For the very first time, Schools not only were allowed to enjoy being on the pitch at Twickenham Stadium, but also took part in the launch and testing of a revolutionary new Gilbert rugby ball which had been fitted with a revolutionary tracking chip.
The participants each passed and kicked the new Gilbert balls with their result readings all displayed in 3D on screens around the stadium at the event in association with Gilbert (Grays International Schools) and Sportable Data.
The young sporting stars of the future from our schools were additionally given one on one expert coaching on the day from:
Simon Middleton- England Roses coach
Louis deacon – England Roses coach
Paul Grayson – ex England RFU and Northampton Saints
Flo Williams – Wasps & Wales International
Head of Education (UK & International) Grays International, Gilbert Rugby, Gilbert Netball & Gray Nicolls Cricket, Carl Bailey said :
“I hope today has been a wonderful occasion for everyone involved. The opportunity to have pupils from some of our finest flagship schools on the actual Twickenham pitch is truly a once in a lifetime experience for some of these young boys and girls. To put their kits on in the actual changing rooms, walk up the tunnel and run out onto the pitch and emulate the stars of Rugby who have also walked out to represent their professional clubs and international countries is hopefully something that will stay with them for a long, long time.”
