boarding school for ages 4-18
Year 1 have swimming lessons at Halstead Pool each week:

"I like jumping in!" (Johnny)
"I like racing horses with the woggle!" (Louie)
"I like swimming on my back!" (Sam)
Year 2 have been learning about Chinese New Year. Pupils have worn traditional Chinese clothes and learned about elements of Chinese culture including language and food.
The children ran their own imaginary Chinese restaurant, as they celebrated 2012’s Year of the Dragon.

Years 1 and 2 went to Bressingham Steam Museum to find out about trains and steam engines. Alastair showed them round and explained how the steam engines work. They saw the different part of the engine - even where the coal goes into the firebox. They were also able to go inside a Post train and see where all the letters went. They threw the sacks out of the train and a special hook caught the next bag. The children really enjoyed riding on the different trains around the gardens.
"The coal went in the firebox"
"Trains have bogeys!"
"We saw the steam-powered fire engine"
"I liked finding the teddies on the train ride"
"I liked the Gallopers ride - the horses went round and round and up and down"
"Train tracks are the same size as two horses' bottoms!"
As part of their transport topic, the classes used public transport to get to the railway museum at Chappel. They went from school to Halstead by school minibus and then from Halstead to Sudbury on the bus (which could have been 47 stops!). From Sudbury, they walked to the railway station and caught the train to Chappel. After looking around the East Anglian Railway Museum they had their lunch and came back to school in the reverse order!

On Tuesday 22nd November, children in Reception, Year One and Two, came to school in bright, fluorescent clothes and taking part in a ‘Beep! Beep! Day’. It is a special event created by ‘Brake’ the road safety charity and is part of National Road Safety Week aimed at raising young children’s awareness of road safety. We practised crossing roads in the school grounds and outside the school, as well as taking part in fun activities throughout the day which teach children to stay safe near roads! Each child donated £1 to the charity Brake who support families bereaved by road crashes.
