Gosfield School have been celebrating National Science and Engineering week in a grand style.
The theme for 2010 was “Earth” and every part of the school has been celebrating our amazing planet in exciting and innovative ways.
Prep School
A whole day of Science took place on Monday 19th March. The younger students were looking at shadows and how they changed during the day, as well as forces, the school’s habitats and falling teddy bears!
Senior School
Every curriculum area in the senior school got involved with Science during the week and the students participated in some creative and diverse lessons:
Maths
Calculating the distance between the Earth and the Moon, and then making scale drawings.
MFL
Describing habitats and weather phenomena on Earth in French and Spanish.
Geography
Testing pollution levels in the school pond by measuring what lives in it.
Art
Creating posters containing information about endangered species, as part of the national Endanger Rangers competition.
English
Composing sonnets inspired by the world around us.
Science
Investigating a meteor landing in the school grounds; measuring the biodiversity of the school habitats as a celebration of the International Year of Biodiversity; investigating rocks and our unstable planet.
A year 8 trip to the science museum.
