From age 2 to 4 years
Our purpose-built nursery rooms and outside area are located in Meadow Court and the setting is supported by the same robust learning structure as the rest of our Prep School. This allows children from the age of 2 years the opportunity to experience a taste of specialist subjects and to take advantage of teacher-led planning and expertise.
The Nursery is open term time only with extended care options for our families. Joining Gosfield School Nursery will also give families priority admission for our Reception class which is limited to just 20 pupils.
- Early introduction to core skills in English, Phonics, Mathematics and Spanish
- Forest School walks
- Extended hours of care
- Priority admission to Reception
In preparation for the transition to school our Nursery programme will provide children with the chance to develop physical, social and verbal skills as well as create the foundations for a future love of learning.
Throughout the day children will have free flow play with adult directed activities, developing early skills in English, Mathematics and Creative Learning. For those children who are ready we will introduce them to Phonics using the Prep School English programme.
A structured timetable is in place to ensure the children have a rich variety of child-led learning opportunities together with plenty of room for creative learning and play-based investigation.
All activities will be appropriate to the age and stage of development of the children.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is structured as a separate stage of learning. At Gosfield School, the transition of children from the Nursery to Reception and on to Year 1 is managed with a fully connected approach. Our children experience a smooth progression from one stage to the next, ensuring that the pace and quality of learning are maintained and that all children continue to make progress in their learning journey.
