Boarding

Boarding at Gosfield provides a unique service for those who wish to, or need to board. Our boarding house is situated upstairs in the main house and is based around small, shared bedrooms rather than dormitories.

Every boarder is encouraged to personalise their own space, but also to keep that space neat and tidy. Older students have the opportunity to have a single room but many choose to continue to share. The boarders have their own common room with full use of the school’s facilities in the evening and weekends.

As well as a good place to study, the boarding house provides a friendly, family and flexible routine enabling everyone to live in a relaxed yet secure atmosphere. There are regular outings; including the cinema, bowling and the coast which are balanced with a regular routine of prep time. The boarders have the use of the school's sports facilities and extensive grounds. Some bring their own bikes and some have been seen training for local fun runs.

The boarders have created a garden and grow their own organic vegetables and plants as well as caring for their own chickens, producing organic free range eggs. Students often relax on the decked garden area in the evening, where there is often a BBQ being cooked when the weather allows.

During 2008 the boarding house had an Ofsted inspection which was very successful and commented that the boarders were indeed being provided with a ‘unique boarding experience.’

‘I have been boarding since year seven and I love every minute of it….’
(boarders’ comment on inspection survey)
