Friends Of Gosfield School : Who We Are
The “Friends of Gosfield School” is a group of Mum’s and Dad’s, who meet regularly to organise and arrange events for everyone’s enjoyment. We are a small group but are always looking for new members to help and support us.
Last year we had several successful fund raising events, including a Quiz night, Plant sale and a Tea and cakes stall at the 75th Birthday celebrations. We also ran the Barbecue and refreshment stall at the annual Football tournament, which hosts sixty teams of very keen young football players. At the moment we are getting ready for the Bongo night on the 12th May and preparing for the sale of Summer bedding plants next term. Everyone is always welcome to help or attend any of our events. For further information please call me on 01376 528445
The funds raised are put to good use and we support the school in the purchase of extra equipment for the children’s use. Recently we have contributed towards having the infant playground recovered and painted, have purchased a Chess set and Maypole for the junior school, we have bought two mixers for the Food Technology Dept and have enabled the Drama department to purchase all the lighting equipment needed for future school productions. We have also recently agreed the purchase of a new shed to store toys and equipment, bought storage boxes for the infant school, and the Home Economics department are in the process of buying a new cooker.
Supporting F.O.G.S. is a wonderful way of meeting new people and, helping to support the school. Due to everyones hard work we are able to purchase a few little ”luxuries”, that otherwise may have to wait. At the recent Open Morning at Gosfield school you may have been lucky enough to see some of our new purchases in use. The Maypole dancing was particularly impressive and it was a joy to see one of our purchases giving so much fun to both children and visitors.
We would like to invite you to our meetings, which are generally held at the beginning of each month. (Term time only). Do come and see how we work and perhaps inject some new ideas for fund raising. We are always looking for fresh views and thoughts. After Christmas we shall be organising a programme for next year so would appreciate some fresh ideas from some new committee members.
We have recently set up a system where by you can find out what is going on, order tickets or simply ask question about F.O.G.S. This has been organised by having a Form Representative for each year. There is a list up on our various boards for you to find out whom it is you have to contact for information. I hope you have been able to speak to a Representative but if you have any difficulty I am always available on 01376 528445.
We have also started up a “second hand uniform shop” for items of second hand school uniform that you may wish to purchase. Should you have any unwanted items of uniform kindly hand them to a Form Rep or myself.
We all look forward to seeing you at our meetings and also at our future events.
